TB-500 is a synthetic peptide, derivative of the naturally occurring Thymosin beta-4 (TB4), which contains 43 amino acids and is found in many different tissues and cells in mammals. This peptide is crucial in actin polymerization regulation, but also involved in cell proliferation, migration and differentiation.
Thymosin beta-4 kicks off mechanisms that drive actin polymerization, crucial in cell morphology and mobility. Speaking of its cell potency, it also promotes the formation of new blood vessels and stem cells maturation, while lowering the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
As TB-500 molecules are attracted to the site of the bacterial infection, they effectively lower their adhesion to endothelial cells of the host’s body, effectively making them leave the affected area quicker.
